Goal Setting Number One Foundation of Social Media
In a recent article for Dynamic Business, “Goal Setting Fundamental for Social Media”, I wrote that goal setting was essential when entering in the social media space for business.
Goal setting should be considered the number one foundation of social media. It needs to be seen as a building block to developing a social media strategy. Many businesses decide to engage with social media because it is free without really giving much thought to what they what to achieve from it. However, spending some time deciding what you what to achieve can actually have you accomplishing more than you thought you could.
Here are some tips when setting social media goals:
– Ask yourself what is it that you want to achieve by utilising social media?
– When your social media goals are decided align them with your business objectives
– Social media goals that are part of a business strategy have greater chance of success
– Make social media one part of a marketing strategy not the only one
The following areas are great for goals in the social media space:
– Brand awareness
– Relationship management
– Reputation management
– Monitoring or increasing online presence
ENGAGEMENT + CONVERSATION + SHARING = SOCIAL MEDIA
Remember the above equation and you will be well on your way to achieving your goals.
What do others think? Have you set social media goals and had more success or totally the opposite?
I would love to hear you comments and thoughts…
